Blog Spotlight: Sodium Girl

Hi everyone,

We haven’t done this in a while but we would like to bring back the Lupus Blog Spotlight. I would like to introduce you to Jessica Goldman. She lives a full, healthy life in California and splits her time equally between her two loves: cooking and writing. She hosts the blog Sodium Girl; regularly writes for Gentry Magazine, Examiner.com, and the Center for Urban Education on Sustainable Agriculture; and is often found trolling local markets for kitchen inspiration.

For the next three days, we will be sharing her guest posts for the LFA blog. She will share with us her background and connection to lupus, how she coped with her diagnosis, and her passion – low sodium cooking along with a delicious recipe. In the mean time, visit Jessica’s blog at sodiumgirl.wordpress.com/. See you tomorrow for part 1!

Lupus Blog Spotlight: Lupus Ranting

Good morning everyone:

Sorry all was silent last week. I was out of town on business travel and was unable to post anything.

I have a lupus blog I'd like to share with you. It is called Lupus Ranting. It's written by a woman -- Sue -- who lives in Missouri.

Here's a little bit about Sue ... in her own words.

"I was diagnosed with systemic lupus (SLE) in 1992. I also have subacute cutaneous lupus (SCLE). Autoimmune disorders are frustrating and vexing. If you have one (or more) you understand what it’s like. If you don’t and decide to read this blog on a regular basis, you’ll eventually learn something. I’m not sure exactly what but hey, this is a blog after all.

I consider myself lucky. I have a full-time job, health insurance, an understanding employer, supportive family and friends, an amazing son. I created this blog to write about life, friends, family, lupus and an array of stuff."

If you have some time, swing by Lupus Ranting and say hi to Sue.

What does 50 years without a new lupus drug mean to you?

The LFA is still looking for your thoughts on what 50 years without a new lupus drug means to you. To learn more about this campaign, and to take part in it, visit Zero in 50.

That's your lupus scoop for today.

Lupus Blog: A Wife A Mom

Morning everyone.

I don’t know about you, but I am more than ready for the weekend. It’s been a very busy week. And according to the news, it’s supposed to be a cool weekend here in the metro-DC area. Highs only in the 40s / 50s. Winter is def. on its way.

I have another lupus blogger I would like to share with you. Her name is Milet and she lives in the Philippines. She is 28 years old and she is a stay at home mom. Milet writes a blog called A Wife A Mom.

Check out her blog and say hi. It’s always interesting to gain some perspective on what it’s like to live with lupus in another country.

And have a great weekend, wherever you are.

Until next time, Wick
