Members of Congress received more than 2500 emails, messages, and stories from lupus advocates across the country during the Lupus Foundation of America’s Thirteenth Annual Advocacy Day held February 28-March 1, 2011. More than 200 individuals met in person with their Congressional Representatives and staff on Capitol Hill, and countless others called, wrote letters, or helped spread the word online through Facebook and Twitter, to raise awareness about the need for increased federal funding for lupus research, education, and awareness programs.

Check Out the Updated Advocacy & Legislation Section on Lupus.org
Good morning everyone ...
Hope this finds you doing well. I wanted to highlight an updated section of content on the lupus.org website ... the Advocacy & Legislation area.
The LFA Government Relations team is responsible for federal, state, and international legislation and issues that affect people with lupus. They work with Members of Congress at the federal level, and with LFA chapters at the state level to raise awareness and advocate for research funding.
Let me share some of those updates with you.
Legislative Issues & Successes
There are many important government relations issues that affect people with lupus. They include: the Lupus REACH Amendment; Fluorescent Light Bulbs; H.R. 6331, the Medicare Improvements for Patients and Providers Act; and Appropriations for Lupus (CDC, OWH, and DoD).

Space Still Available for the Lupus Foundation of America's 2008 Advocacy Day: March 10-11, '08
Good morning.
Hope you had a great weekend. Mine was pretty good. Weather here in DC was actually nice over the weekend. Picked up some original movie posters I had framed (I collect them), hung out with some friends, and ... I went to the gym for the first time. I was a little hesitant / self conscious, but then realized no one cared what I was doing, so it was all good. I think this is one resolution I will stick to.
And now to lupus news.
As a reminder, the 2008 Lupus Foundation of America Advocacy Day is fast approaching ... March 10-11, to be exact. By participating, you will join hundreds of lupus advocates from across the United States who will have come together in Washington, DC to take this opportunity to make their voices heard. Advocates will urge Congress to provide more funds for lupus research to find the causes and cure for lupus, and for education and public awareness programs to improve early diagnosis and treatment of the disease.
