Sleep deprivation can be harmful to the immune system and while everyone has his or her own particular sleep requirements, at least seven hours of sleep a night is recommended for people with lupus. Poor sleep in lupus is associated with fatigue, disease activity, depression, inflammation and joint pain. This month, Dr. Smith will be answering your questions about strategies for restful sleep.
Submit your questions to Dr. Smith by April 5th. Answers will be posted to the LFA website by April 14th. If you have a question about lupus that is not associated with this month’s topic, we invite you to submit your inquiry to our LFA Health Educators and your question will be answered as soon as possible.
